Creative Armenia and the Boghossian Foundation are delighted to present the 2020 East-West Residents, who will head to the Villa Empain in Brussels for a prestigious creative residency in the heart of Europe.

The selected artists for the 2020 term are: filmmaker Ophelia Harutyunyan, and choreographer Rima Pipoyan, and writer and curator Tigran Amiryan.

“These exceptional artists represent the very best that Armenia has to offer,” said Garin Hovannisian, founding director of Creative Armenia. “We believe in their future and are proud to offer them this haven of creativity and collaboration.”

Now in its second year, the East-West Residency program is a strategic collaboration of Creative Armenia and the Boghossian Foundation. Creative Armenia, a global arts foundation for the Armenian people, discovers, develops, and champions innovative talent. Boghossian Foundation has been operating Villa Empain — the art deco architectural landmark — since 2010 and guiding it to cultural prominence over almost a decade of art exhibitions, concerts, and an exclusive residency program for pioneering artists.

“Welcoming Armenian artists at the Villa Empain's residency is a continuous enrichment,” said Louma Salamé, General director of the Boghossian Foundation. “It reflects the mission of the Foundation which is to create a dialogue between Eastern and Western cultures through art. Since we have started the residency, I have witnessed encounters between artists from different cultures and the bridges or opportunities that emerge from it.”
