1. Jailed Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov marked the 100th day of his hunger strike this month, demanding the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners being held in Russia.
2. Meanwhile, Moscow's Red Square lit up as military bands from around the world delivered colorful performances of folk, pop, and classical music, while dance shows unfolded under colorful laser effects.
3. A group of young artists returned to Syria's Yarmouk camp for Palestinian refugees. With their easels set up against the concrete ruins, they painted their dreams for the future.
4. The Grand Palace Square of Brussels became the stage for the city's Flower Carpet exhibit. More than 500,000 flowers were arranged in a vast bright carpet.
5. The New York Public Library unveiled its new "Insta Novels" series, where classic novels will take the form of Instagram stories. The series launched with Alice in Wonderland.
6. Finally, Ariana Grande brought the Renaissance to MTV's Video Music Awards with her recreation of Leonardo Da Vinci's The Last Supper. About 50 women in flowing robes and golden crowns took part in this performance of "God is a Woman."
